Understanding population



Population is the number of individuals living creatures that inhabit a particular area. Eg human populations that occupy a village, the elephant population living in the forest clustered. Every living thing has always relate or interact with their environment. Environment is all that lies beyond anything living beings.

Population growth in relation to its environment is described as follows:
a. Environment consisting of living creatures called biotic environment. Environment consisting of a living creature called abiotic.
b. If the harmony or balance of the population with the environment disrupted, can lead to disaster. Eg indiscriminate logging, causing wild animals entering the village area, otherwise it may cause flooding in the rainy season.
c. If the animal population growth faster than the populations of plants, animals death can occur due to starvation.
d. As a result of explosion of uncontrolled population:
- Food shortages and settlements
- Lack of educational opportunities
- Potential unemployment
- Rising crime rate
- Pollution of the environment: water, air, and soil.
e. Population increases when that came and was born more than dead.
